The Catholic Church is planning to welcome around 50 Church of England priests and five bishops into its fold, including the five bishops already announced. Traditionalists, upset by the acceptance of women bishops. will join the Ordinariate – the special structure created by the Vatican for both clergy and laity – early next year. Catholic bishops have been meeting in Leeds to discuss the Ordinariate, and Archbishop Vincent Nichols is due to announce proposals today.
